Licensed electricians serving Richland Hills
Neighbors Electric is based about 23 miles south in Crowley, and we run trucks up into Richland Hills on a regular basis. It’s a small city, just over 3 square miles, tucked between Haltom City and North Richland Hills on the northeast side of Tarrant County, and most of what we see there falls into two clear categories: homes from the city’s early boom years and the newer construction that’s filled in since. Both need different things from an electrician, and knowing which is which before you show up matters.

Homes in Richland Hills
Newer Construction and What It Still Needs
Richland Hills also has newer infill and remodeled properties, plus homes in the surrounding North Richland Hills, Hurst, and Haltom City area that share the same electrical realities. Newer panels are usually rated 150-200 amp, which is enough headroom for central air, an electric range, and normal household load. But “enough for the house” isn’t automatically “enough for an EV charger and a generator,” and that’s where we get calls from homeowners who assumed their panel could take on a Level 2 charger without checking first. It sometimes can. Often it needs a subpanel or a dedicated circuit sized correctly, which is a straightforward job if it’s done right and a real problem if it isn’t.

What Richland Hills homeowners say
Real Google reviews from customers across Fort Worth & DFW.
A City Built in Two Waves
Richland Hills incorporated on September 23, 1950, and its population climbed fast through the 1950s and ’60s as Tarrant County’s postwar growth pushed north out of Fort Worth. That first wave of homes, many still standing along the streets near Baker Boulevard and Grapevine Highway, are now 65-75 years old. A house built in 1955 or 1962 was wired for a different era: window units instead of central air, one countertop appliance instead of six, no computers, no chargers, nothing pulling power around the clock. The original 60-amp or 100-amp panel that served that house fine in 1960 is undersized for how a modern household actually uses electricity.
The signs we look for in these older Richland Hills homes: a fuse box instead of breakers, aluminum branch wiring from the 1960s-70s (a known fire risk if the connections haven’t been properly serviced), two-prong outlets with no ground, and a panel that’s been added onto piecemeal over the decades with tandem breakers stacked in wherever there was room. None of that means the house is unsafe today, but it does mean an electrical panel upgrade is usually the single most useful thing a homeowner in this part of the city can do, both for safety and for resale.
Electrical Work We Handle in Richland Hills
- Electrical panel upgrades: swapping out old fuse boxes and undersized panels for modern, properly rated service
- EV charger installation: Level 2 charger circuits sized and permitted correctly the first time
- Whole-home generator installation: standby power sized to your actual load, not a one-size-fits-all guess
- Wiring repair: including aluminum wiring issues common in Richland Hills’ older housing stock
- Circuit breaker repair: tripping breakers, dead circuits, and panels that have simply run out of room
- Emergency electrician service: for the stuff that can’t wait until tomorrow
Why It Matters That We’re Close and Licensed
Richland Hills is served by Birdville ISD and sits near Texas State Highway 183, Highway 121, and Highway 26, which is convenient for us since it means we’re rarely fighting bad routes to get there. But the bigger reason to hire a nearby, licensed electrician over whoever shows up first from an app is accountability. Neighbors Electric holds Texas Electrical Contractor License #41555. That license means our work is inspected against the same code standards whether we’re in Crowley or Richland Hills, and it means there’s a real business behind the work, not a subcontractor we’ll never see again.
A city this size doesn’t have unlimited licensed electrical contractors competing for the work, and older housing stock means the jobs tend to be more involved than a simple swap. Choosing someone who actually knows what a 1950s Tarrant County panel looks like inside, versus someone reading a wiring diagram for the first time, is the difference between a clean job and a callback.
Flat-Rate Pricing, Said Plainly
We quote flat-rate pricing before we start, not an hourly estimate that grows once the panel’s open and we’ve found something else. If a job turns out to be more complicated than it looked from the outside, we tell you before we do the extra work, not after it’s on the invoice. That’s the whole promise. No inflated diagnostic fees to get a truck in the driveway, no upsell script.
