Licensed electricians serving Blue Mound
Blue Mound is a small city about 19 miles north of our shop in Crowley, sitting along FM 156 (Blue Mound Road) roughly 8 miles north of downtown Fort Worth. It’s one of the smallest places we serve, half a square mile, just under 2,400 residents, and it has an odd, specific history: it was settled in the 1920s when a Scottish immigrant named John Kennedy built Globe Laboratories there for cattle serum production, and Bell Helicopter actually used that same facility in the 1950s to develop helicopters before moving on in 1960. The city was originally called Saginaw Park before it took the name Blue Mound, after a nearby hill, and it incorporated in 1957. That’s not trivia for its own sake, it explains why Blue Mound’s building stock is a patchwork of different eras rather than one uniform subdivision.

Homes in Blue Mound
A Bedroom Community With Mixed-Age Housing
Blue Mound grew steadily as a bedroom community for people working in Fort Worth, going from about 1,250 residents in 1960 to roughly 2,400 today, with almost three-quarters of homes owner-occupied. That kind of slow, steady growth usually means less of the single-wave, cookie-cutter construction we see in cities that boomed all at once, and more of a mix: some houses from the late 1950s and ’60s, some from later decades as the city filled in gradually. Each era brings its own electrical baseline, and it’s worth having someone actually look at your panel rather than assume it matches the house next door.
What’s consistent across the older end of that range is the same story we see throughout northwest Tarrant County: panels sized for a much lighter electrical load than modern households actually draw, breakers that have been stretched past what they were built for, and in some cases wiring that’s original to a home now pushing 60-70 years old.

Real Google reviews from customers across Fort Worth & DFW.
Common Jobs in Blue Mound
For older homes, an electrical panel upgrade is usually the most impactful thing a homeowner can do, replacing an outdated panel with one rated for today’s actual usage. We also get regular calls for circuit breaker repair when breakers are tripping under normal use, and wiring repair for homes with original, aging circuits. Because Blue Mound sits in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and draws a lot of families who commute into Fort Worth, we’re also seeing more requests for EV charger installation and whole-home generator installation from homeowners who want backup power during North Texas storm season.
A City of Long-Term Owners
With close to three-quarters of Blue Mound’s homes owner-occupied, this isn’t a city full of short-term renters cycling through, it’s mostly people who bought a house and plan to stay. That changes how we think about the work. A panel upgrade or a rewiring job in Blue Mound is usually something the homeowner is doing for the long haul, not a quick fix ahead of a sale, so we talk through what actually makes sense for how long you plan to be in the house rather than pushing the cheapest patch or the most expensive overhaul by default.
Electrical Services We Provide in Blue Mound
- Electrical panel upgrades: for aging or undersized panels throughout Blue Mound’s older housing
- Wiring repair: diagnosing and repairing original wiring on homes 50+ years old
- Circuit breaker repair: tripping breakers and panels that have outgrown their capacity
- EV charger installation: a dedicated, correctly sized circuit for Level 2 charging
- Whole-home generator installation: standby power sized to your actual home
- Emergency electrician service: for anything that can’t wait until a scheduled visit
An Industrial Past Worth Knowing About
Blue Mound’s connection to Globe Laboratories and, briefly, Bell Helicopter’s early development work means the city has an industrial history that’s unusual for a town this size. Most of that activity wound down decades ago and the city today is residential, but it’s part of why Blue Mound doesn’t fit the profile of a typical bedroom-community subdivision built all at once by a single developer. The electrical work reflects that same layered history: no two blocks are guaranteed to have been wired the same way or in the same decade.
Why Choose a Nearby, Licensed Electrician
A city this small doesn’t get a lot of dedicated attention from bigger electrical contractors based on the far side of the metroplex, it’s easy to get treated as an add-on stop. Neighbors Electric holds Texas Electrical Contractor License #41555 and treats a call to Blue Mound with the same seriousness as one down the street from our Crowley shop. That license means real inspection standards and real accountability, not just someone with a truck and a business card.
Flat-Rate Pricing, No Surprises
We give you flat-rate pricing before we start work. If we open a panel and find something unexpected, which happens more often in a city with housing this varied in age, we stop and walk you through it before doing anything additional. That’s the whole deal, and we don’t deviate from it.
