Licensed electricians serving Hurst
We’re upfront about this: Neighbors Electric is based in Crowley, south of downtown Fort Worth, and Hurst is a real drive up through the Mid-Cities off I-820 and SH 183. We’re not going to pretend we’re around the corner. What we can promise is that we’re a licensed electrical contractor (TECL #41555) who takes Hurst calls seriously, shows up when we say we will, and prices the job honestly whether it’s a quick repair or a full panel swap.
We’d rather tell you that plainly than dress it up. For an active hazard, sparking, a breaker box that smells hot, call whoever can get there fastest. For planned electrical work, the kind most homeowners deal with, a panel that needs upgrading, a generator you’ve been meaning to install, an outlet that’s never worked right, the value is in getting it done correctly the first time by someone licensed, not in shaving twenty minutes off a drive.

Homes in Hurst
Hurst grew fast in the 1960s and 70s, and a lot of that wiring is still in the walls
Hurst’s population went from about 10,000 in 1960 to over 27,000 by 1970, one of the sharper growth spurts in the Mid-Cities during that stretch. That means a big share of Hurst’s housing dates to that same era, built to whatever the electrical code called for at the time. Fifty-plus years later, a lot of those homes are still running on their original panel, sometimes 60 or 100 amps, sized for a house with a window AC unit and a handful of lamps, not a modern kitchen, a couple of TVs, central air, and a garage full of tools.
The pattern we run into most in Hurst is predictable: panels that are undersized for how the home is actually used now, breakers that trip under normal load, outlets with no ground, and in some of the older pockets, aluminum branch wiring from the early ’70s that needs to be addressed rather than ignored. None of it announces itself with a bang. It shows up as flickering lights, a breaker that won’t stay reset, or an outlet that’s warm when you touch the cover plate.
If your home is one of the many in Hurst built in that stretch and you’ve never had the panel actually inspected, not just glanced at when a breaker tripped, it’s worth having someone licensed take a look. A lot of the panels from that era were made by manufacturers whose products are now known for failing to trip when they should, which is a different and more serious problem than simply being undersized.

Real Google reviews from customers across Fort Worth & DFW.
Commercial and mixed-use growth around North East Mall
Hurst is also home to North East Mall, one of the larger shopping centers in the state, and the retail and office growth around it has brought newer construction into the mix alongside the older residential streets. Newer builds still need real electrical work: EV chargers the builder didn’t rough in, generator circuits ahead of storm season, and dedicated lines for home offices, workshops, and pool equipment that weren’t part of the original build.
What we handle in Hurst
- Electrical panel upgrades for homes still on an original 1960s or 70s panel
- EV charger installation, run on its own properly sized circuit
- Whole-home generator installation for when the grid goes down
- Wiring repair, including aluminum branch circuits common in older Hurst homes
- Circuit breaker repair for breakers that trip repeatedly or feel warm
- Emergency electrician service for anything that’s sparking, dead, or smells hot
Most Hurst service calls we run start with one of these and turn up something adjacent while we’re already in the panel or pulling a permit, an ungrounded run near a bathroom, a junction box buried behind drywall, a double-tapped breaker that was never supposed to hold two circuits. We’ll show you what we find and let you decide what gets handled now versus later.
Why a license matters, especially in a mid-century suburb
Electrical work in Texas requires a state license, and ours is TECL #41555. That license is what stands behind a panel upgrade when the house sells, what keeps a generator hookup from backfeeding onto the line during an outage, and what your insurance company looks for if an electrical fire ever gets investigated. In a city like Hurst, where a good number of homes are running fifty-year-old wiring behind fresh paint, that’s not paperwork. It’s what keeps a repair from becoming a liability.
Flat-rate pricing, before we start
You get a price up front, not an estimate that grows once we’re inside the panel. That number holds whether the job takes two hours or four, and it’s the same number whether you’re five minutes from our shop or up in Hurst. No trip charge disguised as a “diagnostic fee,” no padded invoice at the end. If we find something additional once we’re inside the panel, we’ll quote it separately before doing the work, not fold it in after the fact.
Get it looked at before it gets worse
A panel that trips more than it used to, an outlet that’s discolored, a breaker box that buzzes: none of that gets better on its own. If something in your Hurst home feels off, call Neighbors Electric at (817) 533-0943 or send us a message through our contact page. We’ll tell you plainly what’s going on and what it’ll cost to fix it right.
