Licensed electricians serving Boyd
Boyd sits in Wise County on State Highway 114, about seven miles south of Decatur and roughly 30 miles northwest of the Fort Worth metroplex. From Neighbors Electric‘s base in Crowley, that puts Boyd about as far out as we go, a real drive north and west well past the edge of the city. We say that plainly to Boyd customers rather than pretend it’s around the corner, and we schedule the visit with that travel time built in, so the window we give you accounts for the drive rather than assuming clear roads the whole way.
Boyd is a small town of about 1,400 people that’s changed names twice, first from Greasy Bend to Parkhurst when the railroad came through, then to Boyd to stop getting confused with nearby Park Springs. That history tells you something about the place: it’s an old farming and ranching town that’s stayed that way even as it’s grown. The housing out here runs from older homes close to Highway 114 and the town’s small core to acreage properties spread out on the surrounding farm and ranch land, with barns, shops, and outbuildings a normal part of the property, not the exception.
Boyd High School and the football and baseball programs are a real point of local pride, and the town has stayed close-knit even with growth pushing in from the Fort Worth side over the years. That growth shows up as a handful of newer homes closer to Highway 114, but drive a few minutes off the highway and you’re back into working farms and ranch land where the electrical setups are older and, in some cases, original to buildings that have been standing for decades.

Electrical Work on Boyd’s Acreage Properties
Long service runs are the norm rather than the exception once you’re out past the town core. A house set well back from the road, a shop or barn a few hundred feet beyond that, and sometimes a well pump further out still, means the wire gauge and circuit protection have to be sized for the distance, not just the load. Undersizing that run is one of the most common problems we find and fix, usually showing up as lights that dim when a compressor or welder kicks on, or breakers that trip for no obvious reason.
Shop and barn electrical out here also tends to have been added on over the years rather than planned from the start, meaning a circuit that was fine for a single light and an outlet now has to handle power tools, a chest freezer, and maybe a welder, all on wiring that was never upgraded to match. Well pumps come up often too. A pump that’s sharing a circuit with something else, instead of running on its own dedicated and protected circuit, is a repair we make regularly on older Boyd properties, and it’s worth having checked before it fails during a busy stretch, particularly heading into the hotter months when a well pump and a shop full of equipment can both be drawing at once.

Why the License Matters
Neighbors Electric holds Texas electrical license TECL #41555, required by the state to legally perform this work. On rural Boyd properties, we routinely find shop and well wiring that was clearly done without a license: wire that’s too light for the distance it runs, no disconnect where one belongs, grounding that was never installed. A license means the person doing the work answers to a state board and has to meet code, not just get something working for the moment. That includes pulling the right permits and getting inspections done where the job calls for it, which protects you later if the property changes hands or an insurance question ever comes up.
Flat-Rate Pricing
We give you a price before the work starts, and that price holds even if a run turns out to be longer than it looked or a panel is worse off once it’s opened up. That’s our risk to carry, not yours. No hourly clock, no add-on charges after the fact, and no reason for the final invoice to look different from what we told you before we started.
